What to expect when you contact me.
Finding the right psychotherapist and treatment can be both hopeful and overwhelming. It’s important to recognise that seeking help in challenging moments is a sign of strength, resilience and self-awareness. Starting therapy is an important step. I aim to make the process clear, thoughtful, and well-contained from the very beginning. Below is an outline of what you can expect, whether you’re a parent, carer, or a young person seeking support.
- Initial Contact
Contact me by email (dr.tmanolopoulou@gmail.com) or phone +44 (0) 7936 637105 . I will respond promptly and professionally to arrange a suitable time to speak on the phone or via zoom. If you’re unsure about what kind of help might be needed, that’s completely understandable — I can guide you through the options.
- Brief Consultation on the Phone or via Zoom
We begin with a short, no-obligation conversation on the phone or via zoom. This is an opportunity to outline the current concerns and to consider whether it would be appropriate to arrange an initial consultation in person or via zoom. I will offer a clear recommendation, based on my clinical judgement and experience.
- Initial Consultation
This is a semi-structured, face-to-face or remote meeting that allows us to explore the difficulties in greater depth. It also offers a chance to think together about what may be needed at this stage. Sometimes, one consultation is enough to clarify the situation or to consider next steps; in other cases, further exploration may be helpful.
- Assessment and Recommendations
If more in-depth work seems appropriate, I will offer a full assessment. This involves a careful and comprehensive understanding of the issues at hand. The assessment provides the basis for any therapeutic intervention and ensures that any ongoing work is grounded in a thoughtful, shared formulation. From this, I will offer clear, tailored recommendations about the best way forward.
Clarity, Care, and Collaboration
At every stage, I work with professionalism and care. You will be fully informed about your choices, and no decision about therapy is made without your input. Sessions are confidential, and the process is always collaborative, respectful, and grounded in ethical clinical practice.
